Research checklist
Your guide to know as much as possible about the school you are applying for and its catchment
- Read the inspection reports for the school Ofsted in England, Education Scotland in Scotland and Estyn in Wales and Education and Training Inspectorate in Northern Ireland.
- Performance statistics and data for the school ( England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)
- Visit the school before applying to see whether you are suited to the location
- Search for local news
- Make sure you have all information when you are filling out the application form such as competencies.
Application Form
The following sections are usually included in for teaching application forms
- Education make sure you give all information as requested such as course title and initial teaching training (ITT). Give your teacher reference number (TRN) for England and Wales or (GTCS) Scotland or (GTCNI) Northern Ireland.
- School Placement and School Experience gained during your ITT
- Employment history, start with recent and provide in detail all employment since leaving full-time education
- Elaborate upon your education, teaching experience and employment in your supporting document.
- Leisure activities and interests
- Personal statement is a separate document or on application form. Demonstrate in the personal statement how you match each of the job description criteria.
